內容簡介: The resolutely independent filmmaker Ann On-wah Hui continues to inspire critical acclaim for her sensitive portrayals of numerous Hong Kong tragedies and marginalized populations. In a pioneering career spanning three decades, Hui has been director, producer, writer and actress for more than 30 films.

In this work, Audrey Yue analyses a 1990 博客來網路書店film considered by many to be one of Hui's most haunting and poignant works, Song of the Exile. The semi-autobiographical film depicts a daughter's coming to terms with her mother's Japanese identity. Themes of cross-cultural alienation, divided loyalties and generational reconciliation resonate strongly amid the migration and displacement pressures surrounding Hong Kong in the early 1990s. Even now, more than a decade after the 1997 Handover, the film is a perennial favourite among returning Hong Kong emigrants and international cinema students.

This book examines how Hui challenges the myth of the original home as singular, 博客來familial and romantic, and constructs the second home as a new space for Hong Kong modernity. Yue also discusses the teaching of the film in the diaspora, demonstrating its potential as an affective and performative text of transcultural literacy and diasporic negotiations in the cross-cultural classroom.

Audrey Yue is senior lecturer in cinema and cultural studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

朴子有多少醫生 嘉縣新書來解答

（中央社記者黃國芳嘉義縣31日電）嘉義縣文化觀光局將發表新書「朴子醫療文化備忘錄－第一代西醫師與醫生館的故事」，解開「朴子醫生人最多，朴子到底有多少醫生」等答案。

文化觀光局今天表示，在文化部文化資產局支持下，以文化資產區域環境整合計畫，不斷活化在地文化藝術，且邀請在地的蘇明修返鄉貢獻所長，以專業帶領雲林科技大學團隊清查朴子具有歷史性的建築物。

在建築物清查中，蘇明修發現朴子的醫生館特別多，以「建築群」的角度詮釋在地的發展歷史；而建築體和使用人息息相關，促成蘇明修不斷研究，花了3年時間，終於完成這本書。

文化觀光局指出，發表「朴子醫療文化備忘錄—第一代西醫師與醫生館的故事」新書，大家都說嘉義出醫生，而朴子醫生人最多，但朴子到底有多少醫生？朴子人身體比較虛弱嗎？為什麼朴子街上有那麼多的醫院診所？朴子有那些人當醫生？他的診所或住家漂亮嗎？書中將一一解答這些有趣的問題。

文化觀光局說，新書出版，不僅提供朴子醫療文化的基本資料，作為推動朴子醫療文化館的憑藉，更希望透過這本書，可以喚起鄉親對歷史性空間保存的重視。1040731
